Schedule For Kids’ Eye Exams
Parents ask us all the time about when they should bring their children for eye check-ups. Dr. Yesnick follows the basic guidelines set by the American Optometric Association (AOA).
American Optometric Association Recommendations:
- 1st exam: half-year old
- 2nd exam: 3 years of age
- 3rd exam: prior to entering elementary school, around 5-6 years old
Follow-up exams: at least every 2 years for children with no eyeglasses and no pediatric risk factors. If your child needs vision correction, vision therapy, or other ocular treatment, we will provide personalized instruction on how often to return for eye examinations.
