Low Vision Recovery From Macular Degeneration

1.

Spectacle Miniature Telescopes

Designed for tasks requiring better central vision and mobility, these glasses are used by drivers to see signs and traffic lights, by grandparents to see grandchildren playing soccer and bridge players to see cards on the table.

2.

Implantable Miniature Telescopes

This cataract implant is surgically placed in one eye to magnify distance images. There are many criteria for acceptance into the program to minimize the risks that are always present with surgery.

3.

MicroScope Glasses

Two high-powered lenses for crystal clear images are prescribed for reading small print.

4.

Spectacle Prismatic Glasses

These moderate powered lenses are useful for near tasks like reading, writing and crafts.

5.

E-Scoop Contrast Enhancing Glasses

These lenses combine five special optical elements that create a larger, clearer, higher contrast image. One patient improved his gold score dramatically wearing them. Another explained, “This is the clearest I have seen in years.” They must be seen to be believed.

6.

Peripheral Perceptual Programming Therapy

Teaching the brain to use peripheral vision allows maximum use of residual vision. This increases confidence & independence. Low Vision trained occupational therapists use customized exercises to achieve results with this Medicare covered therapy.

7.

Nutritional Counseling

Twelve years after the landmark AREDS 1 (Age Related Eye Disease Study), exceptional advances in scientific knowledge allow us to recommend proper nutrients to retard the progression of conditions like Macular Degeneration.

8.

Illumination Counseling

The aging retina of the eye requires increased illumination to achieve better vision. We will recommend low vision designed lamps and bulbs for best results at home.

9.

Driving Rehabilitation

Loss of independence is the single most devastating result of vision loss. To pass DMV vision requirements, the better eye must test better than 20/200. We can test your vision for DMV qualification, and we have DMV certified handicapped driving instructors to assist you in passing the drive test.

I came back here after moving to a different area. I tried another optometrist but it didn't compare. I'm glad I came back. I was able to make a same day appointment. Staff was friendly and service was fast. I went through a few pairs and finally found the one I liked with thier help. Definitely will be coming back. This place is also family friendly.
